You’re a smart man, Bo. Insightful to the edge of being socially psychic. But please Lawd, be wrong about Houston hip hop blowing up. After living here for 7 months (damn, you’d think the school year would be over already), I have developed a severe allergy to Swisha House’s Mike Jones, mostly because I find speaking in third person to be somewhat neurotic and anyone who repeats himself as much as he does in one verse should be shot with no blindfold and stabbed with a rusty ice pick. Meanwhile, some folks that’s folk with Swisha House and Chamillionaire (if it wasn’t for Mixtape Messiah, I’d give up on H-town rappers) updated me on a sad occurence a little while back. Apparently, Cham’s little brother was at some club where Swisha House was in full effect and Paul Wall was on the tables. Well, apparently, somebody from the SH camp decided it would be a good idea to jump him, and Paul went so far as to come from behind the tables to kick buddy while he was down. I got a sick feeling Round 2 will be less beatdown and more clicking hammers, but I could be wrong.

Bomani’s note - as someone who remembers when Paul and Hakim (Cham) were in high school and were real tight, it would be sad if this were true. But, assuming these cats are remotely similar to how they were back in the mid-nineties, neither Paul nor Hakim’s grabbing a pistol.

First thought when I saw the mug shot: the “D” stood for Dirty. Looks like others saw the same thing. Second thought: Anyone who thinks that Voodoo was garbage AND that Houston “hip hop” is about to be legit needs to get the name of their supplier to D’Angelo. Whatever you smoke is way more potent than cocaine and weed.

Saw this one a few days ago. There was a picture of the “How Does It Feel” D’Angelo in one of those papers they hand out at the METRO station. So I looked at the picture and thought to myself ‘Self, I guess D’s coming out with another CD finally.’ Negative. Now I know where he’s been the past 5 years. Somewhere chiefing out and treating his nose. Damn D…Did Erykah Badu date him too? A lot of people didn’t dig Voodoo, but I thought it was near genius, except for how does it feel…

Houston Rap…Hmmm. I will say this, Slim Thugg might be all right if I could get past the camera zooming in on his grill for full teeth nudity in his video “Like a Boss.” Someone’s a little too proud of their new teefes (pronounced TEE-FESS).

I’m diggin’ Mike Jones (Who? Mike Jones. Is he from Houston?) and Slim Thugg’s “Still Tippin’” though. That’s my shit.

Finally, someone tell me. I don’t know. Is Port Arthur near Houston…FREE PIMP C! Goddamn when does he get out? Did he kill a cop?

Bomani’s note - yes, Mike Jones is from Houston. And Port Arthur is about an hour east of Houston on I-10. I think Pimp C has about two more years. He’s in jail on a probation violation stemming from an incident at a mall where he showed someone his pistol in a threatening fashioning, which is assault with a deadly weapon.

I remember hearing about D’Angelo falling off back during the voodoo tour. I read a QuestLove article about D’Angelo’s antics during shows that nailed him something terrible. Thoughts on D’Angelo being caught with yay? Cocaine is a helluva drug. The Michael Jackson transcript is pretty whoa. This part caught my attention- “Accuser: Well, it wasn’t really a good idea for me [sic] drinking because I only had one kidney, I only have one kidney. And so it harms my kidney for I drink that stuff [sic]. But he would just say, ‘it’s OK.’ And he would just keep on telling me to drink.” Thats some pretty evil shit that goes along with all the other disgusting molestation charges. I’m ready to delete all my Michael mp3s and unlearn the moonwalk. And lastly, the Eagles will win without T.O- we’ve done it for the past three years, and besides Minnesota already celebrated their Super Bowl victory last week.

Hey Bo, it’s me ShaVaughn…anyhoo. D’Angelo is just sad..I am an extremely huge fan of his. I read the report in an entertainment newsletter that I get and he looks a hot ass mess. It’s funny how people so talented and with so much potential let themselves go due to lack of training and work motivation. As for Mike…they need to just leave that man alone. He’s been degraded enough and he’s had a pretty rough life. Not the roughest life but pretty damn draining…If and only if he did it, just send the man to an institution cause he wouldn’t last two seconds in jail…

Damn Mike…getting the poor little kid bent on the moonshine…that’s not a good look. I really hope he didn’t do it, but if so, he should definitely be put under the jail. It don’t look good Mike…it don’t look good.

As for D. Sad to see him fall so low and I hope he gets his act together.

I completely agree, Houston is on the come up (and I’m not just saying that because I live there…ok, well maybe, LOL). About D’Angelo, that’s just sad. I hope he gets some help (and a trainer). I’m a fan so I look forward to his next CD.
