<description>Read The Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson if you haven't already. I am. I wish I had before I went to college. Still a very relevant book in my humble opinion.

Maybe I not as schooled as some of your other readers. My saving grace has been common sense and an ability to think for myself, God's grace all encompassing. The other day, in BET's attempt to be socially relevant in addressing "issues", they chose to explore the usage of the word "nigger" in particular by the hip hop generation on this show Cousin Jeff's Chronicles. They brought a few political black folk and intellectuals together to discuss this oh so very important issue. (Bo, you said something awhile back about black intellectuals, but I missed what you were eluding to. I guess I'll email you later on that one.) The use of the word nigger is a personal choice, just like the use of any other word. I think people put to much stress on words and not enough on what meaning is truly conveyed by them. That's been one of the main issues in the attack on rap. A "motherfucka" and people find themselves unable to find any meaning in the song. The way someone chooses to say something should not make you blind to the point they're trying to make. I am tired of people not addressing real issues affecting black people. And nigga this just ain't one of 'em. Or to put it another way, "Nigga please" Are we really unable to distinguish what's important from what ain't? Somehow I feel like I left the subject somewhere...oh well it won't be the last time.
