I really have to read these posts BEFORE talking to you. I got the play by play on this already, but you know Bomani - you truly do have a way of writing the tale so that we're all along for the ride in that scray place called Bo's Brain.

You know I'm grinning from ear to ear for you on this one. I will of course stay tuned. And read...before we talk.

Congratulations Bomani,
Gosh - I am at a loss for words.

This IS indeed the beginning of your next great thing...and though I only know you through your words - I'm PROUD of you.

Continue to do your thing Black Man...we need you!

Bomani,
If RW tells u that u are looking rather "dangerous," that means you are doing something right...trust me, I have heard it a few times myself. Keep writing provocative shyt man. There aren't but so many brothas out there that rep the voice of the hip-hop generation, but can still ratchet up their writing to swing intellectual swords with virtually any adversary. 'The inscrutable win, the obvious lose.'

Congratulations Bomani, I'm a long time fan of Ralph Wiley and am glad Bill Simmons respected him as much as he did. Good to see you doing your thing. I always read your columns up on ESPN as I know to expect them to be quality material.

And besides, ESPN is like a dream job for any sports enthusiast so you've definitely hit big time. Once more, congrats.

I've always been a fan of Wiley's (Why Black People Tend to Shout--holla!!!)and I was always looking for his latest. It was always well-written, intelligent, and made you think.

Bo, it heartens me to know that you'd been touched by the hand of one of the greatest writers of our generation. His untimely passing was like a shot to my gut and Page 2 just hasn't been the same since he was forced to put the keyboard down, but having your stuff there helps.

In the words of Bundini, "Rumble, young man! Rumble!"

Keep writing it and I'll keep reading it. Please believe it.

Bo,

Congrats on the meeting with the folks in Bristol. Your connection to Ralph Wiley is interesting.

I first saw Wiley on a Sports Reporters show several years ago. He was magnificent as he verbally sparred with his less gifted co-panelists.

I subsequently sought out his writings and I was even more impressed. He seemed to have that Rudyard Kipling "If" thing (Walk with kings and not lose the common touch).

I was deeply saddened by his untimely departure, but I'm glad to see that he planted the seed in a young cat like yourself.

I hear echoes of his influence on you.

I would also like to commend ESPN for giving you an expanded platform. They seem to be one of the few major media sites that tend to let "us" speak freely on a variety of issues. Your initial letter to Lebron was the hook that drew me into your blog.

Best wishes to you as you continue down this path.

Trust me; you're a worthy successor to Mr. Wiley's sports writing legacy.

BTW, Serenity was the bomb; the chats with Bill Simmons were classic, man do I miss Ralph!

Ralph told him I was on top of it and one "helluva writer."

Ralph was The Truth- and so are you.

You're creating a wonderful body of work; don't ever think differently.

Not sure if I believe you, but I'll take it!

Not to pat myself on the back, but I saw this coming a long time ago, after the Dixon thing went up. Congratulations, keep up the good work, and don't forget the little people damn it.

Forget the little people? Someone's gotta clean my whitewalls, you know.

I'm kidding, I think.
