Guest Poster Coming Soon
I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine, a New Orleans native and someone that’s a good of a person as my mother is, which is saying a lot if you know her. He has issues with the media portrayal, and he is also able to contribute a perspective of the city that I can’t give you. Please read his words and appreciate their sincerity and the intimate knowledge he will bring.

Just heard that they’re going to be housing people at the Astrodome. Dome’s a dome, right? Seen how bad things are at the Superdome? Dome’s a dome, right?

More on Me and the Hurricane
I watched the news for the first time in days yesterday. I’ve never been a big fan of television news, opting for the Internet instead. The Internet provides one-click cross-referencing, making it more desirable to me. Also, television news is as much about entertainment as anything else, and I’m a Joe Friday, just the facts, sort of guy.

Whoadieland is WaterWorld–REMOVED
After talking to a good friend of mine, I realized this post was in misguided taste, and I’m taking it down. Really, the gravity of the situation trumps my attempts at humor, no matter how insightful they may or may not have been.

Eye En Tee El…Baba!
As I’m sure you already know, today is International Baba Day. Children filled the streets in many third world countries today, hoping that International Baba would simply appear on his personal closed-circuit television feed and wave at the youngsters who hope to be like him one day.
International Baba Day–it encourages the children to dream.

Finally…
…I’m ready to depart. Sorta.
But, I had to get on to let you know that I’ve fallen in love with Dell Computing. Their tech support people may be the most condescending people on earth, but they got me back my computer, delivered, 48 hours after they came to pick it up. They even fixed things I didn’t tell ‘em to work on.
Hooray Dell!
No, they ain’t paying me for that plug. They should, though.

Hate Mail!
Strange as it may sound, hate mail is my favorite part of this gig. I’ve never understood what prompts people to just rail on folks, so this provides me a glimpse of a small piece of insanity that i was neither blessed nor cursed with.
Yesterday, following the joint on the Falcons, I got a few doozies.

Falcons
Business…peep this one on the Falcons for ESPN.com. Problem is that the computer I’m using, for some reason, won’t let me do html tags. So, copy and paste the following link.

The hate mail is already coming in. We have competition for Letter of the Year ‘05.
That’s right, I’m talkin’ about you.
