EUR (Electronic Urban Report; www.eurweb.com) reports it's not true. Didn't see it (no TV), so no opinion on the quality of the show.

Almost 15 years on the Internet, and I still have to tell people that everything you read on email ain't true...

First of all, I did see NBC commercials for Jamie and they are replaying the special on Friday for all those conflicted between Jamie and American Idol. So I don't particularly buy that nonpromotion racist thing. What I did see of the Jamie's special last night was HORRIBLE! It was soooo bad. Did I mention it was BAD? Don't waste your time on the rerun folks!

Bo had a post a few months ago about white journalists commenting on racial issues in the media, so I'll keep my four paragraph response that I originally typed off of here.

But I will say, I've seen multiple commercials for this already. i don't understand...

Also, you know networks ALWAYS put their strongest shows against the other networks strongest shows. They don't want one network getting all the ratings share.

I know I won't be watching (at least without the mute button on). I didn't expect more than crappy modern R and B from him, but he was so horrible on Leno(???) last night, I had to turn off the TV. And this "NBC wants black music specials to fail" stuff doesn't make any sense.

I've seen a few commercials for this on NBC here and there, but I haven't been paying that close attention.

The special will undoubtedly fail. For one, I don't think most people are really that keen on Jamie this far past "Ray". But also, I don't think musical specials...with maybe a few exceptions...do that well anyway. Not sure why this one would be any different.

I saw that and I think there are one of two explainations of it.

Either 1) NBC has some of the most brilliant marketers on Earth, by making people watch by circulating a rumor that they don't want people to watch. IF so that's sheer genius.

Or 2) NBC really is being racist and we have to watch. Either way, I think NBC wins and the more I think think about it I'm inclined to watch, which if #1 is true -- means I got played.

Won't be the first time...
