I find that I have a “hate-to-love-to-hate” relationship with both North Carolina and Duke. Being raised in ACC country with close ties to the the Terps, I have found it difficult to love them, but I love to see them do the Terps in. Blame it on my HBCU-ness.

The Product is the only album that came out so far this year that I consider worth buying… dope, dope shit. Face doesn’t disappoint, the production is top notch (never really heard much weakness from John Bido, Tone Capone or Brad himself anyway), almost no filler or skipable tracks, no useless features from half-assed rappers… plus I’ve been following Willie Hen (the one from the bay) since like, ‘94… You know he used to be in a group called Do Or Die before the Chicago group of the same name came out? They had an album in the mid-90s plus a solo joint from one of their members, both are impossible to find nowadays though. The kid from Mississippi ain’t bad either. I wish a record like that would sell, but in 2006? Most people’ll either ignore or download it “just for the Face verses”. And then say some shit like “Face is getting paid anyway”, which is pretty much bullshit, plus he’s not alone in the project, but whatever…

As a rabid Maryland fan, I always had equal contempt for both UNC and Duke. Since I’ve set up camp in Big Ten country, however, I’ve turned into a pan-ACC supporter (because the Midwest sucks). That said, I wasn’t in the know about the REAL reasons behind Doherty’s dismissal. All I heard was the party line about the players’ revolt. Anyone (Bomani?) care to enlighten me?
