Sorry, I must be 2 months and 12 versions behind on my iPud knowledge.

No Zune here, not necessary. Got everything I need already.

But I still disagree. You'd buy an Apple console. I know what you would buy better than you do. Because I said so. So there.

Kirk.

First... Nah. Like I said, I'm not a gamer. Being an Apple game box wouldn't inch me any closer to being one. It's just the way I'm wired.

Second, you can replace iPod batteries. But, you thought iPods couldn't play MP3s, so I understand your misinformation here.

Third, enjoy your "soon-to-be-purchased-I'm-sure" ZUNE.

Tommie, I see what you mean about that being sad, but at the same time, that's capitalism. If there was a stock you could buy that you knew was going to close at 10 times the purchase price the very next day, most people wouldn't hesitate. That's not a perfect analogy, but you know what I mean.

Jarrett, I had an Xbox360 when they were still hard to get. I took it back. The PS3, however, looks far and away better. Hell, the Blu-Ray DVD drive alone would sell for close to the $500-$600 retail price on the PS3.

Rex, if Apple made the PS3, you'd have 8 of them. Admit it. Maybe if you wish real hard, the iPod will inspire them to invent a console. Its most unique feature: Inspired by the non-replaceable battery, every time you want to play a different game, you have to throw the console in the trash and buy a new one. Yay Apple!

I have a friend who got a part-time job at Target, specifically for a PS3 and so he didn't have to wait in line. Spent $1200 for 2 off them. Sold one for $6000. Went out and bought a new plasma screen today. If I wasn't so responsible; I might have been in that line to spend my rent money now to pay off the lease for the year. And before you say it, I know. That is sad.

I think the reality of this is that the robbery had nothing to do with the playstation 3. It was just some robbers that realized, out of all of these people waiting to buy this 500-600 dollar product, some of them might actually pay with cash. Its not like the robbers were gonna steal the money and then get at the back of the line for a ps3. If you're buying anything that costs over $500, do not pay with cash. If they rob you for a debit/credit card, you can always cancel it later.

It begs the question of which dude was the bigger loser:

- the guy who put his life on the line for a piece of overpriced machinery that will catch fire in about six weeks and be sold for $99 on eBay a year from now

or

- the guy who SHOT that man for said machinery

I'm going to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. I think while I'm there, I'll pull out my Pong/Breakout game unit (circa 1978) and just look at it. (Yup, I saved it for prosperity's sake.) How far we have come.

By the way, when ColecoVision came out in the early-80s, that shit was the bomb! I played DonkeyKong 'til my fingers bled.

Even though now, I don't own a game console unit of any kind, nor have I had any desire to buy one, I guess I can sort of understand why those people would wait in line, 'cause I was them one time...

I was reading in the paper today about what to do if you were one of the unlucky ones not to camp out for a PS3. "Not to worry," they said, "you can still prepare for the day you do receive one from the second shipment of PS3s by going out and purchasing your HDTV, (don't even think about hooking a PS3 up to a regular 4:3 TV) and wireless modem if you don't already own them, so you're set for when you bring home your new PS3."

Damn, it's gettin' expensive to be a gamer these days.

Oh well, what I lack in Gamerism, I make up for in my obsession for media collecting of MP3s and MP4s (ripped DVD MPEGs). Some how, some way, the obsession with sumthin' hits ya!
