Did we somehow forget about Teddy Pendergrass pre-car crash? Before Teddy decided to meet with up with whatever that was before his RR met tree, his three-peat of Come On Go With Me, Close The Door and Turn Off The Lights was simply classic rip off the clothes and get busy music. If so desired, we could also go back to his Harold Melvin period and pull up a few from that time.

The Gap Band's "Yearning For Your Love"? I mean, it was sampled in Nas' "Life's A Bitch"

Excellent list.

Also, you can't go wrong with The Dell's "I Can Sing a Rainbow (Love is Blue)" and Don Blackman's "Holding You, Loving You."

You can add Zappa's "Dirty Love" to the filthy music that (some) folks loved back in the day, but conveniently forget when criticizing today's vulgar music.

Bjork's "All Is Full of Love" and Bilal's "All For Love" are nice, and maybe it's not suitable for Valentine's Day, but if you ignore the dreadful chorus, Nas' "Undying Love" is arguably his best song.

Oh and Rex I didn't see your post. Good mention of "Moody's Mood for Love." Great song. Actually saw him play it live several times but unfortunately without unaccompanied with no female singer.

"Pretty baby you are the soul that snaps my control
It's a funny thing but everytime I'm near you
I never can behave
You give me a smile and I'm wrapped up in your magic
Music all around me, crazy music, music that keeps calling me so
Baby close to you, turns me into your slave"

I am so glad you recognized Bo. Because I love you is the greatest love song ever. Lenny sings, cries, wails, screams, and talks about love in a way that no one else has at least to me. The emotion he taps into in that song is so amazing. Damn!!!

"When you think of garbage, think of Akeem."

ETS... I agree, "Love Train" by the O'Jays. Out of the 20,000+ songs I have in iTunes, it ranks #10 with 113 plays (since 2002). I can't help but play that song over and over.

And another great throwback to an even earlier time: James Moody's "Moody's Mood For Love."
(There I go, there I go, there I go, there I goooooooo,,,)
