We play some Scrabble, but our big holiday game is "Pocket Canasta." Don't even try to play if you haven't before... 'cause it's addictive. We're talking 18-hours of Canasta going on by some family group in our house somewhere...

Games of past... In the 70s it was "Pit"--LOTS of screaming with that one. In the 80s we played "Dictionary," which I believe has been commercialized into a board game now. In the 90s Canasta came about and never relinquished its title... although, Texas Hold 'Em is fast approaching its popularity.

Was Thanksgiving meant for anything else than games with your family?

Yeah, you won, but Scrabble can get crunk. I thought dude mighta put somethin' on ya, with game bein' that tight. Especially after seeing you bluff and all.

My generous, kind, genteel grandma and aunts become transformed during the playing of Scrabble.

I am 1-1 in Scrabble this Thanksgiving, thanks in large part to a nifty bingo play of "desires."
