Prop Joe is extended too much to Marlo. Marlo is just like Avon, a gangsta through and through. He's more about the power of the drug game than the money. C'mon Bomani episode 4 just went off.

See here's the thing with Marlo - he's a pure product. He may not have the wordliness or dreams of grandeur of Stringer and Prop Joe, but the boy knows what he wants and knows how to go about getting it. He recognizes the Game for what it is (game recognize game, right?) and doesn't try to overthink thinks. That was Stringer's undoing. He tried to make the Game something it wasn't, tried to make it bend to his will. McNulty's guilty of the same thing - it's a stubborn belief that your way is the right way.

Marlo, as much as he's despised, knows there can only be one way in the drug trade. And he knows that getting to the top can only end with death or jail. He's gunning for the top, and he will get there - but once he does, he'll also become someone else's target. Unless, of course, Omar gets to him first.

Read the Indianpolis newspapers (the Star and the Recorder)over the last couple of weeks and the next couple. From the Struggle for power between the Police and the New Mayor, to the drug related murders, to the local political corruption: Its all rght there, baby. I'm sure thats the case in any good sized city but its all happening at once right now.

Krista -- They killed Butchie to bring Omar back in town... with a vengeance.

Stringer's last words were hard -- "Ya'll gonna do this or WHA...?" bam. bam. you's dead. ...granted, the tried to offer $$ to avoid it all... eh.

Michael's been groomed but, like you said, is too honorable to be big in the game... that is unless something happens to his little brother...

Do any of us really think we'll get our perfect ending of choice with so few shows and so much left for David Simon and Ed Burns to do/say?

Beg to differ on a few points:

1. Marlo is ghetto, but not stupid. He's the fox putting himself in Prop Joe's henhouse. Learning the system while playing dumb. Then he picks off Prop Joe.But he IS THE dead man walking - oh trust and believe that. And hold two more plots for Chris and Snoop, mane yaherdme?

2. I'd say the other person who stood tallest in death besides Butchie was Bodie; he went out like the solidier McNulty said he was. Why'd they have to kill Butchie though?

Prop Joe does not have much respect for Marlo on the business side of the game.

That truly was the line of the episode. No matter how great things seem to be going for Dukie, someone, somehow always manages to rain on his parade. That convo between the former Mr. and Mrs. Daniels was so incredibly interesting. It was a soft, quiet moment in an episode filled with many loud, sledgehammer ones. I can't wait to see what happens next.
