A Day with Dolby 5.1

Business…here’s a real simple way to tell who’s gonna win the Super Bowl. And they say prognostication is hard…
Love to stay, but I just got an Airport Express. It’s a classy lil device that lets me wirelessly run songs from iTunes through my home system (which I have modestly named The Thunderdome II). So what I’m doing now is listening to a bunch of stuff I’ve never gotten to jam on a full-on system. For music nerds like me, that can take up a lot of attention.
One recommendation–check out the new Beatles compilation Love. That’s the remix/mashup record George and Giles Martin did for Cirque de Soleil. The arrangements aren’t drastically different from the originals, but the songs are all remastered, making them perfect for Dolby 5.1. It’s worth peeping for all the Beatlephiles out there, and it doesn’t serve as a bad introduction for the uninitiated. The originals aren’t like these tracks, but they’re not foreign.
(Thanks again, boss.)
And just in case you’re out there–Prince, it’s time for you to have some of your old stuff remastered. Maybe you have already, but I’d really like to hear what Dirty Mind would have sounded like with full production. And can you imagine Sign O The Times with digital sound?

The opening for the Page 2 bit was one of the strongest I’ve read from you. Nice, dude.
I disagree about the Pats, though. Karma has to catch up to them sometime for what they did to my Raiders in 2001. That field goal broke our spirit, and we’re still recovering.
Irrational? Maybe. But who said sports had to be logical (Need proof? Ask Boise State…)?
Karma’s coming back on ’em this year. The weird lady who read my aura as I walked down the street the other day assured me that it is so. Here’s hoping she’s right.

Love is pretty ridonkulous. For a buncha 40 year-old songs, it sounds better an a lot of shit coming out today.

One of my favorite Mashup DJs is CCC
    http://www.mashups.blogspot.com/
He did an awesome mashup of the Beatles’ Revolver album with a bunch of cool songs. Also, one of the best other songs he did was Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and The Police’s “Every Breath You Take.”

Oh no! More bass thumping at nights. That’s alright; I bought some new speakers last year. Maybe we can battle it out. Thurderdome II vs. {insert cool system name here} 🙂
    Your favorite neighbor,
    p-diddy
PS, agreed, Pats all the way.
No really, that’s my next door neighbor.

Hey Bo (et al.), if you’re really into extreme quality for your digital music (best if from a completely digitally recorded CD in the studio), try the lossless format of AAC in iTunes. It’s a fat file (not quite like a raw AIF in size), but it is completely lossless in sound (of course MP3s are quality-compromised for size restrictions). Apple’s compressed AAC format (128 bit rate) is way better than MP3s at 192 (and smaller in size), but they are only iTunes/iPod/QuickTume compatible.

Jeeeeeeeeeeezus! I run a spell checker and it DOESN’T flag “QuickTume?” I guess it’s time to spring for a quality third party spelcheker.
    🙂
