Andruw Jones, right fast.

Business…check this one at salon.com on Andruw Jones. For those unfamiliar with Salon, you’ll have to watch to view an ad–not a pop-up–in order to read the piece. It doesn’t take long, so just go ahead and do it.
And congrats to King. His wife gave birth on Sunday, bringing one more Kaufman into the world. While I’m thinking about it, I’ve gotta ask King if that’s a stage name. King Kaufman? Can’t be real…but I know it is.
Back a little later with the beginning of the NABJ wrap-up.

    Bo,
I read your article in Salon. That my friend was some QUALITY sports commentary. You brought up some interesting points, and the stats to back them up. I also enjoyed the Gold Club references.
Andruw gets a raw deal here in the “A”. The Willie Mays comparisons, while highly complimentary, are a bit unfair. He is approaching Willie’s level in the outfield, but he is outclassed by Say Hey at the plate. Willie was the prototypical 5 tool guy with a pimp’s flare for the dramatic. Andruw can go get it with the best of them, but I wouldn’t rely on him throwing anyone out.
A .270, 30 homer, multiple Gold Glove outfielder, who does not miss games, should not get this type of scrutiny. I would take him over Jim Edmonds in a heartbeat. All we ever hear is his un met potential.
Some of this blame needs to be shared by our over compensated, under producing in October, pitching staff, and the reluctant team “leader” Chipper Jones.
When Andruw’s bat is lacking you can still count on him saving runs with his spectacular outfield play.
