Out of Houston. Had a great trip. Got to talk to Scarface. Interviewing Bun B on Thursday. Yesterday was one of those wonderful sorta days.
However, this is the name of a restaurant in downtown Houston. Could some Houstonian please tell me if this says what I think it says and, if so, what’s really going on?
What it is, man? More on the trip later…gotta get to writing.

Damn.. it’s like that down in Houston. Massa’s huh..? Wonder who owns it?

Ok, I just called there. I’ve seen the restaurant and I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping it was owned by some foreign dudes and they pronounced the name differently. Nope. The woman answered the phone with “Thank you for calling Massa’s…”
Italian guys own it.

Massa is an Italian person’s last name. I’m sure the way they pronounce it has more to do with being in Texas than anything else.

Massa’s is an cajun/seafood eatery located in downtown Houston. (Basically, a less appealing version of Pappadeaux). Pronounced MA (as in mother)SSA. Eaten there before, see the signage everyday and never made the connection before your post.

all I remember about Houston is that it was August … maybe 1993, and it was hot as hell. glad you had a good time.

Fuck it. For every Sambo’s in Santa Barbara, there’s a Massa in Texas.
