  1. I’m no expert on sexuality. However, I think it was Kinsey that used a graph line to depict human sexuality. On one end was exlusively hetero and on the other end was exclusively homo. Kinsey believed that most people fall somewhere in the middle and that only a very small percentage of us are exclusively hetero or homo. However, due to societal constraints, Kinsey believed that most of us choose hetero. Note:(Kinseys research methods are still being questioned many years later, but I think he may have had some valid points about societal pressures/constraints effects on the display of sexual behavior).

  2. I wonder if the issue here might be about gender roles as opposed to (but not disconnected from) sexuality. If the stories are true, the image I’m getting is one where Malcolm is quite comfortable with his sexuality. However, I wonder if people would have listened quite so closely to what he had to say were the truth known at the time to the public at large. His audience is generally perceived to be a fairly “macho” one, and I wonder how they would have accepted Malcom if he did turn out to be gay or bisexual and went public with it. Would he have been characterized as feminine or somehow less masculine as is often the case?
