On LeBron, but a little late

Business…here’s a BSN joint I did on LeBron James. This actually went up a few days ago, but I didn’t realize it. Give it a look-see, if you get the chance.
I’ll be back atcha shortly. In the meantime, I’m still trying to figure out how this relates to what I said about Bron Bron months ago.

It’s funny. Those were almost exactly my thoughts when I heard of LeBron firing his agent.
    Completely off topic:
This isn’t a knock on anyone or organization; more of a pondering about the “system.” But why is “@ssh*le” acceptable to print and “asshole” not?
The meaning of the word, the part one is likely to be offended by, is conveyed either way. So it’s not like anyone is being protected or insulated from the so-called inflammatory speech, which is what I thought censoring was all about. I don’t get it.
Bomani’s note – well, I did the censorship on that one myself. Purposely, I did it to look as much like the word as possible. Like you, I find the standards to be maddeningly inconsistent.

This Lebron thing is interesting. What is the value of an agent? It’s rumored that Mr. James had $100 million dollars worth of endorsements before he sank one “j”. Maverick got his Nike job as a result of one of these endorsements.
Lebron currently has no auto endorsement. He has no large scale presence in electronics. This man could be the next Tiger Woods from an endorsement perspective.
Neither Tiger nor Jordan had their friends as agents.
An acquaintance told me that the Goodwins were brothers. Why cast off these qualified, producing brothers for your “podnah”?
Bomani’s note – maybe he cast those brother–and they are brothers from the same mother, yes–off for his “podnah” because he doesn’t have car or electronic deals.

    Great letter Bomani!
Found your blog by way of a blog I was reading this morning. It will be interesting to see how this decision plays out. You absolutely nailed both sides of the argument. Sure, there are tremendous risks that history clearly maps. And yet, here is a real opportunity for both Lebron and his friend to buck the odds and create the catalyst for change in what’s been a very suspect practice of sports representation.
I suppose this is one of those situations where you hope like hell that it works out, but remain prepared to sadly shake your head if it doesn’t. Thanks for the great read. – **RPM**
