Questions

So I figure today’s a good time to do what’s become my once-a-month post of whatever.  If I’m ever asked to show how my life has changed professionally in the last year, I’ll tell someone to check my archives here.  The frequency just ain’t what it was, and it’s because life mandates that I work on its schedule.  The blog works on mine.  Gotta find a way for my schedule to give more to Virtual Bomaniland.
BTW, my primary function at the job now is doing the Jump on Mondays and Wednesdays.  I’m going to put a link on the sidebar here that’ll let you get to the Jump every day, and then you can work it out from there.  Also figure I’ll put a link to my archive page there, at least for the next couple of months or so.
So, while I’ve got your attention, I’ve got a few questions.
1.  Why does it cost about $20 or so to drive from D.C. to New York?  Seriously, it’s cheaper to take the Chinatown bus than to drive if you only take tolls into account.  That’s before we get to gasoline.  Not having to pump my own in New Jersey simply isn’t adequate compensation for my troubles.
2.  Anybody heard the Fiddy?  He kept it out of the hands of people that normally sell me music, so I haven’t heard it.  I did see a projection saying he’ll sell 600K this week, 200K behind Kanye.  Thought that might have happened, but I wasn’t sure.  The general public–read: white people–is a bit unpredictable when it comes to what hip hop they’ll like and what they won’t, and when they will and and won’t like it.  They fooled me again this go ’round.
3.  Now that we’ve got some distance from both cases, who’s dumber–Michael Vick or Larry Craig?
4.  Did I thank you for saying happy birthday?  If I didn’t, lemme know so I can rectify that.
Tomorrow’s a rare off day, so I’ll probably be back around.  Got a piece going up, too.
Speaking of which…
Old business…here’s a look I did about Michigan fans last week.  I feel like I’m missing something, but I don’t remember.  Check the archive page.

  1. I’ll answer #2:
I have no intention of buying or even listening to the new Fifty. To me he doesn’t say any wild or profound shit.
One of my favorite lines ever belongs to Kanyeezy.
“I’m killin’ y’all niggaz on this lyrical shit, mayonnaise-colored Benz, I push miracle whips”
What!?!?!? What the fuck did he just say? OHHHHH SHIT!
I replayed that shit like 10 times the 1st time I heard it. It’s still makes me tingly when I hear it.

  2. Kanye’s clean version leaked first…about 2 weeks ago, I guess.
I got hold of Curtis about 24 hours later. Every song on the album sounds like AT LEAST one other 50 song you’ve heard already.
and when you only have two albums and a smattering of mixtape stuff that ALSO sounds alike….yawn.
I am pretty sure 50s 15 minutes of fame as an MC are over. The “general public” has grown tired of rap music all the way around.
Kanye, knowing this…has crafted an album that almost crosses over into some bizarre HipPop combination.
Not only will Ye outsell 50 THIS week. Ye will have legs..and 50 wont.

  3. 1) I rode the bus from DC to NYC faithfully. It’s the smartest way to go. It actually goes from Boston to VA’s tidewater area. Get on it!!
    2) Haven’t heard the 50. Don’t plan on it. And yes the “general public” is quite unpredictable when it comes to hip hop … and when they love it or hate it.
    3) Vick is dumber because he really thought he could get away with his crime. Craig had good reason to think he could get away with his. He’s a relatively-rich white Republican Christian man …. and he DID almost get away with it.

  4. question3-you are KILLIN ME!
    Michael Vick is dumber!
Why? – “Because any idiot knows you don’t need to hire a lawyer to plead GUILTY” lol
one of the great quotes from my father

  5. Re:#3 – I’m still waiting for somebody to tell me that it’s a cultural thing in Idaho to have their senators give hand gestures that simulate the desire for sex in airport bathrooms. Then I’ll decide who’s dumber.
