Quick Houston News

Well, most of my people that tried to get out did. A few turned around. I sure as hell hope they knew what they were doing.
Now, here’s the first tear jerker I’ve read so far. My goodness, that fire was terrible.
So, are they going to make all the lanes inbound when people try to get back? I have no idea what they plan to do with this one.
If you’re reading, have my number, got out, and I haven’t heard from you, give me a call, please.
Storm’s heading toward Port Arthur now. One of my sister’s lives there, but she got out. If you wanna talk about a city that I don’t think can handle something like this, that’s the one. For those of you without family there or who don’t like UGK, it’ll hit you right here–that town is buoyed by refineries.
Hope you’re sitting on half a tank or more.
And finally, I’m hearing people say that they believe that the storms are the wrath of God, a message to let folks know they need to start living in His/Her image. If that is truly believed, get your shit straight and keep it straight. I’m not taking anyone seriously on that unless they plan to stop getting laid and ridding themselves of some other unnecessary vices. Show God that his message has been heard.
For if you believe this is quasi-apocalyptic and aren’t going to change, I don’t know anyone could expect me to do anything close to the same when things are all gravy.

  1. Real talk. For those who believe walk the walk if you’re gonna talk it. Though I am quite a religious fellow myself I also have a healthy respect for science. Perhaps them bathwater hot gulf waters and that humidity just might have something to do with it as well. I’m no scientist but I’d rather roll the dice on the meteorologist role than the God role. But that’s just me.

  3. Apocalypse comes to mind when you read in one day about an LA earthquake and floods in India… then that horrible bus accident – which occurred right near my mom’s house. I’m also nervous about the fate of Lafayette (and Port Authur and Beaumont, where my cousins fled from and are staying with my mom) and the New Orleans levees are re-breaking… if it’s God’s wrath he’s speaking through his gift to us: this planet. Humans tend to forget that it’s nature’s world and we just live here.
Or maybe we should all quit watching and reading about all this. Maybe we are far too aware and this sort of thing happened all the time throughout history, only CNN hasn’t always been there to make money off of it.

  5. I’ve tried not to watch to much news things on the Hurricanes anymore. I might give some more money if/when there’s a subsequent Rita fund. I just don’t see a point in getting upset, fighting over whether the president’s racist or not, etc. Just because of a stupid Hurricane.
That’s probably because his racism isn’t directed toward you. Assuming he’s racist, of course. Yanno, like I assume the sun will rise tomorrow.

  7. I live outside of Houston and have witnessed the entire event. The one item the news never mentioned was the lack of violence during the huge traffic jams to evacuate the city. Some people that were riding out the storm actually went to freeways to hand out water, gas and food. It was amazing to watch.
One sidenote. What kind of chicken shit president goes and hides at Norad because of a hurricane? I also noticed none of the local senators or representatives were in town either. They all showed their true lack of a spine.
Bo, I had to vent. I have been trapped inside too long. Talk to you soon.

  9. People began calling for the apocalypse not long after Jesus said there was going to be one. One of the reasons the early church grew at the rapid rate that it did was because they expected Jesus to return in their lifetimes. With each generation people take each tragic event as a sign of the last days.
NO MAN KNOWS THE DAY OR THE HOUR….BEHOLD I COME LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT…
Call me crazy, but I cannot imagine that God is going to give us a warning shot before he cracks the sky.
Stay on your grind, people. Hurricane or not.

  11. You may not know the day or hour, but according to the bible, if my memory serves correctly, there will be signs of the end in the form of natural disasters as well as various other evidences. Strange what a “stupid hurricane” brings out of people.
Does Paul Wall debuting at #1 count as an apocalyptic indicator?
