Did these people really think folks were gonna see a movie where the trailer says nothing about the plot and only shows a black man putting a white woman on a chain? Was that supposed to make money? Are you serious?

I assumed it would do better on the strength of guys wanting to see Christina Ricci half-naked, even if she also looks half-dead.

I think Samuel Jackson should deter from taking on any roles that have the word “SNAKE” in the title. I did a little bit of research and BSM comes off like a hot pile of garbage.

I checked out “Black Snake Moan”, this weekend with my girlfriend and I LOVED IT! The trailer could’ve told the story with more detail, but we enjoyed the movie and the whole cast was excellent.

I read the script a year or so ago, and didn’t find it appealing for a number of reasons. I’m not really sure what drives Carig Brewer, and not really sure that I want to know. My response after reading it, was what was the point?

The only way women would see this movie in large numbers would be if the “controversy” about it spread throughout the national popular media.
Had this dropped at the height of Jackson’s (and Ricci’s) popularity, though, teenaged boys would have come out in droves to see it .
I have a few friends who couldn’t wait to see it cause they’re fans of exploitation movies and are really into race/sex discussions. I didn’t see Hustle and Flow, but I really don’t get this one.

Saw Sam and Christina separately on talk shows explain the premise of the movie, which made it sound interesting, and might have gotten my ticket money had I not decided to see “Breach” instead (OK movie, pretty formulaic). Anyway, the trailers absolutely don’t give a hint as to what it’s about except a black man chaining up a white girl. Oh, with gratuitous Ricci crotch shots.

I saw the movie and liked it. The plot is pretty public knowledge now if you look it up. But I knew no one would see it the first time I saw that poster.
