Am I the only person seriously pining for the DVD release of Season Four of The Wire and/or Season Five? It’s really getting difficult to wait. David Simon, get this thang rollin’. At the very least, can I get a release date on the DVDs???

I read an interview with Simon from earlier this year where he said he was previously interested in waiting until season five was ready to come out to release them (to hype the release) but that he had changed his mind because online downloads and bootlegging was so bad for sales. But I haven’t seen a date anywhere.
If someone has already made DVDs–please contact me. I’m jonesing like Bubbles.

Season 4 has to be released on DVD at least a week or so before Season 5 comes out.
The meta-story is so dependent on us, the audience, being connected to the characters and knowing the backstory.
Season 5 prediction: Clay Davis goes down like Rep. Jefferson. I wonder if they’ll throw in the freezer bit.

Not alone at all Bo. I’ve been a MAJOR fan of the show since the first (and BEST) season. I’ve also been quite pissed that the show nor it’s creators, writers, etc. have gotten any credit from the “powers that be” during awards season. This is a perfect example of the VEIWERS keeping the show going (just like Cagney & Lacey (sp?))….anyway, being the daughter of a veteran police officer in a heavily political area, I can say WITHOUT A DOUBT, that this is the MOST realistic police/political drama EVER………and the BEST!!

I’ve been a fan of this show from the very beginning, and think that this past season was the absolute best (and also, one of the best seasons of a television show period). I think about those kids like I know them – wonder and worry about them. So yes, you could say I’ve got it bad for the DVD release as well as for the next season.

I was just talking about this on the plane coming back to the USA yesterday. Seemed like all of the people in my row, the row in front and behind were “The Wire” fans. Thankfully I still have all the episodes from this season on my DVD recorder. I hate when they wait. That means no season 4 out till August 08. Which is bull#@$#. Season 4 was the best, followed by 1, 3, and 2. Though as a member of the media I am so excited about next season I am thinking of making the 40 minute ride up from DC and being like Omar was watching Marlo. I’m going to find an empty abandoned house so I can watching the shooting and get a preview. Lol
