Bomani Jones has partnered with sports media firm Playmaker as the new home of his long‑running show The Right Time, unveiling a new Harlem studio, expanded production capabilities and creative control to position himself as an independent sports media brand. In a conversation with Deadline, the ESPN and HBO veteran talked about the podcast shift and his broader strategy of operating as a brand.
At this point, the audience is much more invested in the product itself than where it comes from.
The New York-based Playmaker, which is owned by Danish digital sports media company Better Collective, has built a hot roster that now includes Shannon Sharpe, Shaquille Oneill, Marshawn Lynch, Paul Pierce, and others. The Right Time launched at ESPN in 2018, and Jones acquired its rights in 2021.
