Confession Time

In case you’re curious, the best part about working at home is that I get to watch “The Young and the Restless.”
Anyway, I just have to say this because my girlfriend’s busy, and I need someone to agree with me on this one–Colleen Carlton is possibly the dumbest character in television history, rivaled only by Ziggy Sobotka on Season 2 of “The Wire.”

  1. You know, I thought it was messed up when Kevin tried to do her in with that fire at Gina’s. But now that I think about it, he would have certainly rid the show of one of its most annoying characters.

  2. Okay, Colleen is unbelievably stupid. Another thing that annoys my sister and I is the actress they cast as the new Colleen. We’re obsessed with how zaftig she is and the costume selections they make for her. My theory is that they picked a heavier actress because Tracy, Colleen’s mom was also chubby with weight issues. I also believe that this new chick looks more like Beth Maitland (Tracy) than the other younger, thinner Colleen. Bo, I’m curious, which Lily is your favorite, Sista Girl Davetta or the recycled Khristel (or whatever her name is)?

  3. Do you mean dumb as in the character development by the producers/writers was a dumb idea to create a character like that? Or, dumb as in the role of the character is that of a dumb person?
If it’s number 2, the I would have to say that Michael Scott on The Office takes the cake. His assistant “to the” regional manager Dwight Schrute is a close second.
    Soaps? (shaking head)
I have to admit having watch Y&R as a little kid when my baby sitters came over. Then All My Children in high school. Finally Days of Our Lives and the Bold and the Beautiful in college. It was actually a pretty good topic to start a conversation with the ladies!
    🙂

  4. I’ve never watched the soap opera, but I don’t think Ziggy was stupid. He just had absolutely no common sense, no grip on reality, and no idea what his place was in the world. He was obviously gifted in some ways. In a nicer society he should have ended up being the next Tarantino or something.

  5. Wow. Just read in the local papers here that the woman who played Jill Abbott (on the Y&R) back in the 70s/80s was in jail here for a couple of weeks for not vacating her house that was awarded to her ex in a divorce settlement.
    Real life soap!
