One of my good friends lost his wife Saturday night. She fought sickle cell for a long time, and this weekend was the last fight she had in her.

It is important that folks know if they carry the trait because you really shouldn’t mate with others that carry the trait. I have a friend that lost a sister and who also has Sickle Cell and he wouldn’t even proceed past Go with a girl that carried it because he didn’t want to pass it to his children.
